The drawings were made after a brief conversation with Ryuichi Sakamoto regarding the terrible events that Japan experienced during and especially after the earthquake and consequent tsunami.
I wanted to be as positive as possible without seeming shallow. A difficult thing to do. And when Ryuichi put the edit together and then wrote the hauntingly beautiful music I was moved to my bone marrow.
This piece has made people cry but in a strangely positive way. – Paul Davis
